ONe MISSION, COUNTY-WIDE IMPACT
Our Impact
Our impact is measured in improved parks, expanded programs, and the countless moments of connection created across the county. This is what happens when residents, businesses, and community partners come together for recreation.

2020-2023
2021
Officially Established
In August and September 2021, the Foundation was formally incorporated and received 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. This milestone laid the groundwork for reinvesting private support back into St. Johns County’s parks, programs, and community spaces.

2024-2025
2025
A Strong Start: Kids Triathlon & Family Color Run Success
2025 opened with strong momentum as two cornerstone recreation events—the Kids Triathlon in April and the Family Color Run 5K in November—continued to grow in participation and community support. The Kids Tri saw enthusiastic involvement from young athletes and families, supported by dedicated volunteers and local partners.

Celebrating Recreation County-Wide: Parks & Rec Month
July brought a full month of activities, celebrations, and outreach for Parks & Recreation Month. With a major gift from the Tesori Family Foundation and support from small businesses across the county, we expanded vendor and sponsor opportunities and connected even more residents with the joy of recreation. It was our strongest Parks & Rec Month to date.

A Resident-Led Vision Takes Flight: Bird Island Park Playground Project
The year closed with the launch of the Bird Island Playground Reimagination Project in Ponte Vedra Beach. This resident-led initiative, supported by donors and local businesses, reflects the heart of our mission: creating vibrant, accessible spaces that inspire play, connection, and community pride.

2020
A Vision Takes Root
The Foundation began in early 2020, inspired by the vision of Bert Watson, the late SJC Recreation Advisory Board Member, and Doug Bataille, former SJC Parks & Recreation Director. Their belief in the importance of recreation for all residents sparked the idea for a philanthropic partner dedicated to strengthening our parks.
2022-2023
One Million Strengthening Recreation County-Wide
Since 2021, the Foundation has reinvested more than one million dollars in monetary and in-kind value to support county parks, enhance recreation programs, and elevate community initiatives.
This includes:
- A land donation at Longleaf Pine & Greenbriar Road for future recreation use
- State funding to relocate and preserve the Historic Canright House at Collier-Blocker-Puryear Park
- Water bottle fill station in partnership with the Rotary Club at Nocatee Park
These early wins showcased the Foundation’s ability to champion recreational improvements.
2024
A New Era of Momentum
A major turning point came in October 2024 with new leadership and a full organizational rebrand. This shift strengthened our identity as the official philanthropic partner of St. Johns County Parks & Recreation and expanded our ability to connect businesses, donors, and residents to meaningful year-round recreation opportunities.
