OUR STORY
SJC Parks Foundation Enhancing Our Community Through Recreation

HOW WE STARTED
The Foundation began in early 2020, inspired by the vision of Bert Watson, the late SJC Recreation Advisory Board Member and Doug Bataille former SJC Parks & Recreation Director. It was formally incorporated and received 501(c)(3) status in August and September 2021, marking a significant milestone in its mission to enhance our parks and community.
$ 1 MILLION BACK TO RECREATION
The funding agreement with the St. Johns County Parks Foundation, Inc. marked a significant milestone in our efforts to enhance local recreation. As part of this initiative, we accepted a land donation at Longleaf Pine and Greenbriar Road, which will be developed for future recreational use, providing valuable opportunities for the community to enjoy nature and outdoor activities.
We successfully secured state funding to relocate the Historic Canright House to Collier-Blocker-Puryear Park in West Augustine. This project not only preserves an important piece of history but also enhances the park's cultural offerings. A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate this achievement was held on Juneteenth, June 19, 2024, marking a significant moment for both the community and the foundation.
